Leading on from the Farmlands project in 2020, I partnered with Rose Challies from the Terra Nova foundation to design a programme that would start to address farmer overwhelm. Farmlands research led us to believe that farmers feel demonized by the city and that addressing co-understanding between farm and city was the first step to creating lasting change. The pilot was conducted in Canterbury with funding from MPI and is continuing to look for national growth opportunities. Read more about the project here
Canterbury Tech Skills Pilot
My long involvement in the tech sector led me to understand the tech sector’s urgent need for skilled people, during a time of global competition for talent. The tech sector itself has done considerable work to target culture and gender diversity but our project targets dyslexia as the most prevalent neurodiversity. The first part of a four-part pilot being conducted in Canterbury has been supported by MPI, Vodafone, and two technology entrepreneurs. The first stage of the pilot was focused on the discovery and worked with Canterbury-based companies Trimble, Phocas, and Inde in a co-design process attended by HR and dyslexic employees. That will deliver more understanding, support, and recruitment processes through Human Resource practice. The programme is being designed to operate nationally by 2025.
